In a joint operation of Odisha Police (SOG) & Andhra Police (Greyhounds) was commenced on 10th Oct. 2018 & launched in Swabhiman Area (erstwhile cut-off area) of Malkangiri district. In the morning hours of 12th Oct.2018, when security forces were on search operation in the jungle near Andrapalli village, suddenly unprovoked firing came on the security forces from Maoists side. In order to save their lives, the security forces retaliated and started controlled firing over Maoists. After exchange of fire ended, the area was thoroughly searched. Upon search of the area, one dead body of Maoist cadre and one Sten Machine Carbine weapon was recovered. It is suspected that the maoist cadre who has died is Meena (Nidiginda Prameela) W/o, Gajarala Ravi (Uday) of Village Pochannnapeta, PS-Batchannapeta, Dist-Warngal (Telengana). She was a DCM ranked maoist cadre. Her husband Uday is the Secretary of Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC). Combing operation has been intensified in the Swabhiman Area. Operational parties are still in the core area. Further details will be ascertained only after the return of the operational parties to the base camp. It is worth to mention that on 18th Oct.2018, one maoist cadre died near Jodambo village in Swabhiman Area in a joint operation launched by Odisha Police & Andhra Police.
