Bolangir,Dec.13 : A labourer died while undergoing treatment at the hospital after allegedly thrashed by two contractors for delaying to go for work, sources said today.
The deceased has been identified as Jagdish Mirdha of Dumerpadar village.
According to sources, Mirdha had taken an advance Rs 1.3 lakh from the contractors, Bhagwan Bariha and Shanti Bariha, for the work.
Even after taking the advance, Mirdha delayed and did not to go to the work. Enraged over this, Bhagwan along with his associate Shanti thrashed Mirdha on Monday.
Mirdha was rescued and admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir where he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
Police have registered a case and launched a probe into the incident, sources said.
