On Sunday, during his “Mann Ki Baat” show, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised IIT Bhubaneswar and Kunni Dehury of Odisha for their activities that set them apart from the competition.

Kunni, who resides in the unremarkable Kardapal village in the Keonjhar region of Odisha, manages a silk spinning facility. The fact that she runs the centre solely on solar power sets her apart from the competition.

She uses this centre to supplement her income and to train and hire local ladies.

She instructs indigenous women in the use of a reeling machine driven by solar energy. These tribal women are now earning money and are relieved of the strain of paying electricity bills thanks to the solar machine. The sun’s energy is exactly what makes it a blessing. The more widely the blessings are dispersed, the better. Consequently, I implore you to join this and include others as well,” the PM stated.

When Kunni heard the PM mentioning her, her excitement knew no bounds. “We are in a tribal territory where a 24-hour electricity supply is a pipe dream. We decided to use solar electricity because of this. With solar energy, we only need to make a single investment and reap everlasting advantages. We don’t

“IIT Bhubaneswar researchers have created a portable ventilator for newborn infants. It is battery-operated and convenient for usage in outlying locations. The PM stated that this may prove to be highly beneficial in saving the lives of young babies.

He continued, “Many of our students are involved in inventing new technologies connected to them, whether it be electric transportation, drone technology, or 5G. Additionally, several IITs are collaborating on a multilingual project that facilitates learning regional languages.
