Lok Sabha MP Suresh Pujari, Rajya Sabha MP  Sasmit Patra and Khandapada MLA Soumyaranjan Pattnaik graced the occasion as guests. All the guests urged the brilliant and qualified students to come to Parliament.

Speaking on the occasion, Pattnaik, who is also an Editor of an Odia daily,  said the decision of Parliament is the decision of the country. Parliament is the voice of the country. Today technology is instrumental in every aspect of our lives. The students should think about how to make our parliament accessible to all and how to make it open parliament.

On his part, Patra said, the beauty of our parliament is check and balance. There are ruling party and oppositions in our parliamentary system. Every word of parliament is recorded. There should be fair debate and discussion. We should respect and think about the opinion of each and every Member of Parliament.

We are in the age of youth. More and more youths should come to parliament, he added.

Lok Sabha MP Pujari said, the nation’s destination is guided by parliament. Earlier, most of the talented and wise persons came to parliament. But today the definition of democracy has changed. Quality of debate and discussion is deteriorating day by day in parliament. Now a days most of the wisest persons can’t simply win the election. Morality is disappearing from society and politics, he said.

Pujari also said, now it is your time to pick up where we left. More and more educated and talented students should come to parliament.

Among others Prof. H. K. Mohanty, VC, KIIT Deemed to be University; Prof. S. C. Raina, Director, KIIT School of Law; Dr. Binita Behera, Faculty Joint Convenor, KIIT National Youth Parliament Competition were present.

Students from different universities across the country have participated in the youth parliament competition.

During this two-day competition discussion on various topics will be held and preparation of various bills which will be sent to parliament later.
