The couple—Sabitri Parida and Monalisa Nayak—were produced in the court of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) here today.
Subsequently, the police recorded their statement under Section 164. The court later sent them to the short stay home.
The move came a day after the couple threatened to commit suicide if any attempt is made to separate them from each other.
The same sex marriage hit the first roadblock after the father of one of the girls lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter was forced into the marriage.
Notably, Sabitri, a resident of Mahakalpada, and Monalisa of Pattamundai tied the nuptial knot on Saturday.
According to reports, both the girls maintained their relationship since school days. With the passage of time, they decided to continue the relationship and got married.
Both the girls, who are now working for the same company, tied the nuptial knot in the presence of notary Ashutosh Mohanty.
