Kalahandi Declaration Issued: Thousands of Women and Youth of Kalahandi to benefit

Bhawanipatna: 30 September 2018:  The three day global development conclave came to a successful end here at the Bhawanipatna OUAT campus. After three days of intensive dialogue on several significant development issues including that of agriculture, art, culture, climate change, women and youth empowerment, sustainable livelihood, access to justice and effective political participation etc, a Kalahandi Declaration with a ten point action plan was issued. The draft of the declaration was adopted in the plenary session giving a call for collaborative projects and investments in Kalahandi.

Prof. CM Khanda, the Dean of OUAT Bhawanipatna has committed to extend support to train young farmers in scientific and organic farming. There will be several collaborative camps throughout the year to reach out to the farmers and agripreneurs as well. Prof Srikrishna Deva Rao, the Vice Chancellor of National Law University Odisha (NLUO), Cuttack has extended a proposal to support collaborative work in legal literacy training for the youth, public representatives and social activists. The Khadi and Village Industries Board Chairperson Shri Tejeswar Parida has extended collaborative support in creating rural entrepreneurship especially in the area of bee-keeping.

Shri Sanjay Mishra of Sathi, Bhubaneswar has extended his offer to provide free sanitary napkin packs to 10,000 under-privileged women in next three years. Shri Samarendra Sahu of Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (IED), MSME, Government of Odisha and Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahu of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Government of India have proposed to support entrepreneurship development and technology adoption respectively. Room2Read has committed five libraries in Kalahandi and Shri Gyanesh Mishra has committed to build an Art school in M Rampur.

The third day saw several stalwarts like Manmohan Singh, Umi Danil, Rahul Nainwal, Osama Manjar, Sourav Banerjee, Sanjit Behera, Bhabani Shankar Mishra, Pravas Ranjan Mishra, Prof. Surendranath Pasupalak, Ardhendu Das, Puspendra Singhdeo, Abani Mohan Panigrahi, Gopabandhu Behera, Rahas Bihari Behera, AV Swamy, Manoj Panda and Dibya Shankar Mishra discussing and debating on issues like agriculture, food security, citizen engagement, political will and how best to harness the energies of Kalahandi for a holistic development of the district.

Shri Sujeet Kumar, the Founder Chairman offered the vote of thanks and shared his profound gratefulness towards the people of Kalahandi, to the beloved Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik and the ministers of Government of Odisha, public representatives of Kalahandi.

The event was anchored by three leading names like Prof Sushant Padhi of Kesinga College, Television anchor Ms. Shovana Mishra and well known anchor Ms. Dibyani Sarangi.
