Kabul,Dec.25 : A series of gun and suicide attacks on a Kabul government compound killed at least 43 people.
The health ministry on Tuesday described it as one of the deadliest attacks on the Afghan capital this year.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
At least 10 person were injured in Monday’s raid on a site where the Ministry of Public Works and other offices are located, spokesman Waheed Majroh said.
Terrified government workers ran for their lives as some jumped from windows from the height of several floors to escape the wrath of militants.
A large number of people are trapped inside the buildings even as heavily armed security forces cordoned off the area.
The security forces engaged in a fierce gun battle with the attackers, reports said.
Four militants, including the suicide bomber, were killed and more than 350 people were freed, officials said.
