Cinematographer and producer Ashok Swain who was conferred with the prestigious Jayadev Puraskar for 2015 for his lifetime achievement at the 27th State Film Awards, has suffered a brain stroke and is under treatment at the Aswini Hospitals,Cuttack.
Born in Cuttack town to Mandardhar Swain and Pusparani Swain on the 10th of January 1948, Ashok is man of simple nature and a humble attitude..
After passing a Diploma in cinematography from S.J. Polytechnic, Bangalore, in 1969 he started working in various studios like AVM studios in Chennai, RK studios in Mumbai and has worked in various films. He then went onto work at Mysore as an assistant cameraman for about a year and half. In 1973 he joined “Doordarshan” as a cameraman.
All the movie lovers of Odisha have urged upon Chief Minister ,Odisha Naveen Patnaik to extend support of the State Government for treatment and cure of Ashok Swain.
