Calling the meeting with Nobel Prize winner Abhijit Banerjee “excellent”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said they had a “healthy and extensive interaction on various subjects”.
The Indian-origin Nobel laureate called on the PM in his first visit to the country after the announcement of the award last week.

The Nobel winner landed in Delhi on Saturday. Since then, it has been a hectic routine for the Presidency College and Jawaharlal Nehru University alumnus, with a series of interviews, programmes, a book release function and meetings lined up.
Banerjee will go to Kolkata – his home town – on Tuesday evening to meet his family. He will fly out in the early hours of Thursday.
