Bhubaneswar: Life was thrown out of gear in many parts of Odisha today following incessant rain that has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Most parts of Cuttack city are reeling under water-logging which has disrupted vehicular movement.
Normal life was hit in the state capital of Bhubaneswar and the seaside pilgrim town of Puri due to continuous rain.
Though the heavy downpour has decreased in the Smart city, locals and commuters witnessed water logging on the potholes filled roads. Several patches of roads that were repaired during Dussehra festivities also chipped away due to the rain.
The situation is equally bad in Puri where the people are seen struggling to reach their destinations. Devotees, who thronged the holy town and visited the Loknath temple have to wade through knee-deep water. Rainwater reportedly gushed into Loknath temple in Puri. The water-logging in the temple had hogged headlines last year bringing widespread criticism.
The incessant rain and the resultant water logging has prompted authorities to declare the closure of all schools in Puri district today.
