There are currently 1,734 COVID-19 instances that are active in the state, and 236 more people have recovered from the illness over the past day, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 13,17,278.

Only a quarter of the targeted population received the third vaccination, according to the Odisha government’s plea to the public on Saturday. This is because there are only a few weeks remaining in the free vaccination period.

Health Director Bijay Panigrahi stated during a news conference in Bhubaneswar that a total of 80.90 lakh persons, including frontline workers and those in the 18 to 60 age group and over 60 years of age, have taken the prophylactic dose.

“Roughly 25% of the targeted population have taken the cautionary dose, while many have still to receive the shot,” he added, adding that the second shot was still due for 23 lakh people who had received the first shot.

By September 30, the deadline set by the Union government for providing free vaccinations at public healthcare facilities, Panigrahi pleaded with the populace to take the precautionary dose.

The number of persons with COVID-19 increased to 13,28,244 on Saturday as 174 more people, including 13 minors, had positive COVID-19 test results, according to a health advisory.

The death toll increased to 9,179 after a 74-year-old man in Bhubaneswar passed away from the illness. It stated that 53 other people have already passed away as a result of comorbidities.

On Friday, 226 illnesses and one fatality were reported in Odisha.

In the last 24 hours, 13,217 samples were tested for the illness, resulting in a daily positivity rate of 1.32 percent.
