vigilante detectives Umesh Chandra Jena, additional director of mines in Odisha, was detained on Saturday for having assets that were out of proportion to his known sources of income.
Since Friday, the vigilance sleuths have searched 13 locations connected to Jena.
According to a Vigilance official, the official was discovered to be in possession of Rs 1.64 crore in cash, 650 grammes of gold jewellery, one multi-story structure in Bhubaneswar, three in his hometown of Keonjhar, five plots, two four-wheelers, and two two-wheelers.
Jena formerly held the position of deputy director of mines in various localities throughout the state, including Joda in Keonjhar, Koida in Sundargarh, and Jajpur, before taking on the additional director of mines role at the state mines directorate.
The Odisha Vigilance also detained Kandarpa Pradhan, additional chief engineer, minor irrigation circle, Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi (KBK), in connection with a DA case.
The Vigilance has searched a number of locations connected to Pradhan. According to a statement, they discovered three apartments in Bhubaneswar, two buildings in Angul, five plots in and around the town of Angul, two four-wheelers, one two-wheeler, and 530 grammes of gold that belonged to the official.
