Cuttack: Police DG B.K Sharma today suspended IIC Bikram Jena for his unauthorised absence from duty.
Jena who was interrogated by the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch for his alleged links with stone mafias during his tenure with the Khordha Sadar police station has remained untraceable for past few days.
Sources said that Jena has moved to the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the case. “Jena has availed leave for few days but did not join after that. His mobile also remained switched off,” said a senior police official.
Police officials said Jena’s name came up during interrogation of a few members of the stone quarrying mafia. The STF so far has arrested more than two dozen accused involved in illegal mining quarry in Khordha and adjoining areas.
