Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, on Saturday, cornered the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on various issues, including the Ram temple controversy, Article 370, and Nanar Project, and said that though they are in an alliance currently, Shiv Sena will oppose their opinions in these topics, which have an impact on the public.
The Sena leader was in the city to undertake a review meeting of the party’s office bearers from western Maharashtra. After conducting the review meeting, Thackeray spoke on various issues with media persons.
He said that just as how BJP announced demonetisation “within a few moments”, they should erect the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said that BJP only makes promises to voters, but never keeps them.
“BJP had promised the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, scrapping of Article 370, and the addition of a common civic code in the country. When are they planning to fulfil these promises?” questioned Thackeray.
To avoid mismanagement in the education sector, BJP introduced redundant projects like distributing the Bhagwat Gita. This is the attempt to divert attention from major issues in the education sector, alleged Thackeray.
Shiv Sena will oppose the refinery project at Nanar at any cost and will not allow the government to erect it in Ratnagiri district, he added.
Thackeray accepted that he had not given due importance to the Shiv Sena unit in Pune, but assured that he will personally take care of it going forward.
Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, Srirang Barne are candidates for Shirur and Maval
In a meeting between Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and party office-bearers held in Pune on Saturday, Thackeray confirmed that Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil and Srirang Barne will be the party’s candidates for Shirur and Maval Lok Sabha constituencies for the 2019 polls.
In the meeting, Thackeray appreciated the works of both members of parliaments. Recently, Barne has had received the best parliamentary performance award. Srirang Barne said,“The Sena chief has confirmed my name for the 2019 polls and has instructed us to plan a booth-wise campaign. Sena is currently dominating in Maval and had been re-elected twice earlier. Today, Thackeray has given instructions to all party workers to convert this strength into hat-trick victory.”
