Hari Babu Kambhampati was sworn in as the 27th Governor of Odisha in an official ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan on Friday, December 3, 2025. The oath of office was administered by Orissa High Court Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, state ministers, MLAs, MPs, BJP leaders, and other dignitaries.
Mr. Kambhampati succeeds Raghubar Das, who recently stepped down from the post. Following his arrival in Odisha on Thursday, Kambhampati, accompanied by his family, visited the sacred Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek the Lord’s blessings for the state and its people.
A guard of honor was accorded to the new Governor immediately after the swearing-in ceremony, reflecting the significance of the event.
Previously serving as the Governor of Mizoram, Mr. Kambhampati was appointed to the Odisha post by President Droupadi Murmu on December 24, 2024. His appointment underscores his extensive experience and dedication to public service, bringing a fresh perspective to the governance of Odisha.
As the new Governor, Mr. Kambhampati is expected to work closely with the state government, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, to ensure harmonious administration and the welfare of the people of Odisha.
