On the occasion of “Gandhi Jayanti,” Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik began the party’s month-long “Jana Sampark Padyatra” on Sunday from Bhubaneswar.
“On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Biju Janata Dal is commencing annual ‘Jana Sampark Padyatra’ from Bhubaneswar, it will proceed across the state, and we need all cooperation to make it successful,” Patnaik said in a speech to the party members.
According to BJD Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik, during the Padyatra, Biju Janata Dal leaders and workers would visit every household to inform them of the state government’s development and welfare programmes. The state government is led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
According to Debi Mishra, vice president of the BJD, “the Padyatra will be organised across the state starting from ward, panchayat, town, and assembly segment; every leader and worker of the party will go to the people and inform them about the development work across the sectors that has been done by the State Government, as well as take their feedback to strengthen it further.”
Additionally, throughout this month-long Padyatra, social welfare initiatives such as blood donation drives, plantation campaigns, etc. will be organised, Mishra said.
The BJD will commemorate the birthdays of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan on October 11, Utkalmani Gopbandhu Dash on October 9, and Gandhi and Shastra Jayanti on October 2 during this month-long padayatra.
Party members and leaders will visit every household during the month-long campaign to inform people of the BJD government’s development plans and social welfare initiatives.
Throughout the month-long march, the party will also hold social welfare initiatives like blood donation drives and plantation drives.
Beginning on October 31, the Congress will also begin its “Bharat Jodo Yatra” in Odisha.
