Srinagar:  Four newly recruited terrorists from Al Bakr organisation were arrested on Sunday morning, after a fierce gun battle with J&K Police and the Indian Army. The gunfight between the militants and security forces took place in Kashmir’s Kupwara district while they trying to cross the Line of Control(LoC).

According to the army, the militants were overpowered by the army and police teams who told them to surrender. While four of them surrendered, three others escaped under the cover of heavy firing at Handwara in the Kupwara district, about 70 km from state capital Srinagar. Search operations have been launched to trace the absconding terrorists.

On account of credible information regarding four newly recruited militants being guided by three terrorists of Al Badr for a planned exfiltration, the army in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police laid an ambush and trapped the terrorists.

The army has revealed that the arrested militants were carrying enormous amount of ammunition and were preparing for a fatal strike.
