Sundargarh: At least four members of banned Naxal outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) have been arrested by the police from Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district on Monday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Lal Babu Mahanandia (27), Pramod Minz (29), Buturu Khandia (27) and Rajmohan Kishan.
According to the complaint of one, Sahanawaz of Kuarmunda, as many as five persons entered into the scrap godown in two motorcycles where he was working on November 17. Then one of the accused person Arjun Rana, who is yet to be arrested, and Lal Babu demanded cash of Rs one lakh from him at gunpoint.
When Sahanawaz refused to pay the amount, accused Lal Babu forcibly took away Rs 32,000 cash from the complainant and threatened to kill him if he discloses the matter to the police or anyone else. On the same day, Sahanawaz lodged a complaint with Biramitrapur police regarding the incident.
Acting on the plaint, Sundargarh SP Soumya Mishra along with Biramitrapur IIC formed a team, conducted raid at different places and arrested four accused persons while another one is absconding.
One pistol having two live ammunition and Rs 30,000 of the looted amount has been seized from the possession of accused Lal Babu. A motorcycle and two mobile phones have been also seized from other accused persons. The investigation is underway, the police said.
