According to police, Paresh Kumari Devi, the grandson’s wife of Kanika’s ‘Raja’ Rajendra Narayan Bhanjadeo, was murdered in Srivihar Colony.
A descendant of Odisha’s erstwhile royal family was allegedly hacked to death by her son in Cuttack over a property dispute, police said on Wednesday.
Paresh Kumari Devi (75), the grandson’s wife of ‘Raja’ Rajendra Narayan Bhanjadeo of Kanika, was allegedly murdered in the Srivihar Colony in the Bidanasi police station area, where the former royals now reside, according to police.
“My mother and brother got into a fight on Saturday. So I moved my mother to the second floor of the house to live with me “Jayanti Samantray, her daughter, agreed.

Ms Samantray claimed that her brother, Gopal Narayan Bhanjadeo, frequently blamed her for “ruining his life.”
“My mother had previously approached the police, but they refused to register a complaint, claiming that it had become a family affair,” she claimed.
Bhanjadeo’s third wife, Babita, who lives apart from her husband, stated that the mother and her son had a property dispute. “Both the son and the mother had hypertension, and no one could stop them when they started abusing each other,” she explained.
While Bhanjadeo’s first wife died, his second wife now lives in Delgi following their divorce, according to a neighbour.
Prateek Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Cuttack, stated, “We have filed a complaint, and the accused is being questioned. The body was taken to SCB Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.”
According to police, a forensic team went to the crime scene and collected evidence.
