Noted Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Parliamentarian Shivaji Patnaik passed away on Monday. He was 92.
He breathed his last at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, informed CPI (M) State Secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik. He was admitted at the hospital on Sunday after his potassium level dropped, Patnaik added.
Shivaji Patnaik was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bhubaneswar in 1977, 1989 and 1991.
Condolences poured in from all quarters after Patnaik’s demise news broke.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan took to Twitter to share a tribute message for the departed leader.
“His (Shivaji Patnaik’s) life-long struggle as a political and social activist for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden will always be remembered,” Pradhan wrote in Twitter.
