In Nabrangpur, Odisha, forest officials busted a poaching ring, rescued a pangolin, and made four arrests.
In response to the intelligence report, police officers and forest officials stopped four people at Chikri Chawk who were travelling from Paparandi to Nabarangpur. According to rumours, the accused planned to sell the pangolin to a dealer.
The united squad has detained the four suspects and taken two bikes and firearms from their hands.
All four offenders have been taken into custody, according to Assistant Conservator of Forest Officer (ACFO) Dhananjay Mohapatra who spoke to India Today. Following a period of supervision under a veterinarian, we will release the pangolin into the wild.
Notably, a joint team from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) of Jabalpur and the Odisha Forest Department seized 14.2 kg of pangolin scales from two people in the Dhenkanal district in July of this year.
