Five notorious dacoits held for looting finance firm employees in Jatni

Bhubaneswar,November 18: The Commissionerate Police have arrested five notorious dacoits on charges of looting the field agents of different finance companies in Jatni area, a number of times.

The arrested persons were identified as Sk Ajim Uddin, Rehamet Sarif, Abdul Wasim Khan, Sk Ansar, Sk Farukh. Several cases of armed robbery are registered against the arrested dacoits, the police said.

According to police, Ajim, Rehamet, Abdul, and Sk Ansar had looted Rs 97,715 and other accessories from one Bikash Kumar Mohapatra, an executive of Bharat Finance, at gunpoint on November 16.

They also brutally attacked Mohapatra with sharp weapons before making away with the bag containing cash, a Samsung Tablet, and some documents. A case 387/2018 under Sections 394 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27 of the Arms Act, has been registered in this regard.

In another incident on September 11 under Jatni PS, Sk Farukh, Ajim, Rehamet, and Sk Ansar attacked a field executive of Bandhan Bank Finance Company, Biplab Kumar Das. The accused persons looted cash of Rs.1,41,830, a POS machine, and a mobile phone from him at gunpoint.

Prior to the two loots in the same police limits, the accused persons had looted cash of Rs 1,50,000, Samsung Tablet from two employees of  Ltd in May, last year.

They waylaid the branch manager Manas Kumar Sahoo and field executive Ajay Kumar Samal near Badatota and took away the cash bag by brandishing guns. Jatni police have registered a case 202/17 under Sections 394 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27 of the Arms Act, in this regard.

Police have recovered Rs 22,715, in cash, one Samsung Tablet of Bharat Finance, some sharp weapon, face mask, a toy gun, three motorcycles from them.

Several other criminal cases are lodged against the history-sheeters at different police stations including Tangi and Khurda, the police said.
