Puri: The Jagannath temple here is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Three servitors of Jagannath temple reportedly assaulted the First Lady Savita Kovind during the President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to the 12th century shrine on March 18.

A letter to this effect was received by the Puri district administration from Rastrapati Bhavan putting the entire State administration in a fix.

During his Odisha visit, the President couple had on March 18 visited the Jagannath temple to have a darshan of the sibling deities. When the President Ram Nath Kovind and First Lady Savita Kovind were taking the glimpse at the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum, three certain devotees misbehaved with the First Lady.

Meanwhile, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has launched an inquiry and decided to slap show-cause notice to the three servitors named in the Rastrapati Bhavan letter for explanation.
