Bhubaneswar: BJD Supreme-cum-Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday expelled ex-MLA Anup Kumar Sai from the party and removed him from the chairmanship of Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC) after he was detained by Chhattisgarh Police for alleged involvement in a murder case.
Reportedly, a police team from neighbouring Chhattisgarh had picked Sai yesterday night and took him to Chakradharnagar police station in Raigarh district. Sai had been earlier served notices to depose in connection with a murder case but as he did not heed to the notices, he was detained.
Sai was a three-time MLA on Congress ticket from Brajrajnagar constituency before he left the party to join BJD in 2014. During Assembly polls last year he was given the role of Campaign Committee Chairperson for Bijepur Assembly seat, from where BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik contested from.
