Angul: Trained elephant ‘Yashoda’, which was recently engaged for the purpose of tranquilising tigress ‘Sundari’ in Satkosia of Odisha’s Angul district, reportedly trampled an associate of its mahout to death today.

The pachyderm crushed Sudhir Munda (45) while he was offering food to the elephant on the premises of Purunakote Forest Range office in the district. Munda died on the spot, reports said.

On being informed, Forest Department officials and police reached the spot and started investigation.

‘Yashoda’ was taken from Chandaka forest to Satkosia in a truck on November 2 in a bid to tranquilise tigress ‘Sundari’.
