Adrija Manjari Singh has accused her husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo and in-laws of domestic abuse and dowry torture, which is a significant embarrassment for the Balangir royal family of Odisha.
Adrija recently met with Uttrakhand’s Director General of Police (DGP), according to reports, after her complaint went unanswered. The Dehradun Additional Superintendent of Police has now been given control of the case (ASP).
Adrija even reportedly stated that her husband, who is the son of BJD leader & former minister Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, had tried to have her killed by a contract killer, according to local media in Dehradun.
“My husband sought divorce from me in August 2022. On September 30, 2022, I filed a complaint at Rajpur police station against my father-in-law Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, my brother-in-law Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, my mother-in-law Bijayalaxmi Devi, Meghna Rana and my husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo. They wanted me out of their house and stopped my entry to Odisha,” said Adrija.
“I was abused and my movement was monitored by guards with a camera pointing towards my room, invading my privacy,” she added.
She requested police protection because she felt her life was in danger.
Adrija, the granddaughter of the former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, resides in Uttarakhand at the moment with her family.
But, Arkesh has denied the accusations. “The claims are untrue. I have tremendous faith in the judiciary, and the matter is currently before a judge,” he stated.
The couple had been wed in a lavish ceremony in the winter of 2017.
