Rahul Gandhi stated that the purpose of the yatra is to bring the populace together in opposition to the BJP-efforts RSS’s to divide the nation.
Gandhi denied claims that the Gandhi family would remotely control the next party leader and asserted that both candidates are powerful individuals who cannot be remotely controlled.
His third encounter with the media during the march was this one. Today was the 31st day of the yatra’s leg in Karnataka.
On Saturday, October 8, Congressman Rahul Gandhi said, “Bharat Jodo Yatra is not for the 2024 elections; it is for the common people’s arm to fight against unemployment and inequality.” He was speaking at a news conference during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka. He claimed that through the yatra, the Congress wanted to bring the populace together in opposition to the BJP-efforts RSS’s to split the nation.
The Congress claims that the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” is being organised in order to challenge the BJP-led Centre’s divisive policies and to make the nation’s citizens aware of the risks of economic inequality, social polarisation, and political centralization.
“Bharat Jodo Yatra is not for the 2024 elections and the Congress wants to unite people against the division of the country being carried out by the BJP-RSS,” Gandhi said.
Rahul on Kharge and Tharoor
Speaking on a variety of topics, Rahul Gandhi rejected claims that the Gandhi family would remotely manage the next party leader. He claimed that the two leaders involved in the conflict are mature individuals who cannot be “managed” by anyone.
When questioned about concerns from some quarters that the Gandhi family may remotely control the next Congress president, the former party head stated, “Both candidates have positions and perspectives, are individuals of stature and understanding, and are running for office. Since this tone is demeaning to both of them, I don’t believe either of them will be a remote control (chief).”
Gandhi also stated that he naturally adheres to the concept of “tapasya” and that he wanted there to be some element of pain in his message to the populace through the Bharat Jodo Yatra, an attempt to travel 3,500 kilometres on foot from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
On PFI, RAGA
Speaking on the Popular Front of India, Gandhi said that spreading hatred and violence is an anti-national act and “we’ll fight anybody who indulges in it”.
“My view is that it doesn’t matter who the person spreading hatred is, it doesn’t matter which community they come from, spreading hatred and violence is an anti-national act and we’ll fight against such people,” said Rahul Gandhi.
National Educational Policy, RAGA
Gandhi disagreed with the new national education programme and claimed it violated the “ethos of our society.”
Speaking on NEP, Gandhi said, “We are opposing the new education policy because it is an attack on the ethos of our country, it distorts our history. It concentrates power in the hand of a few people. We want a decentralised education system that reflects our culture”
Congress’s philosophy
Speaking on the ideology of the Congress party, Gandhi accused the BJP-RSS of disliking it and using millions of dollars and tonnes of media resources to smear him.
Rahul Gandhi said, “I have always stood for a certain idea, that disturbs the BJP and RSS. Thousands of crores of media money and energy have been spent to shape me in a way which is untruthful and wrong. That will continue as that machine is financially rich and well-oiled.”
Indian Independence Movement
Gandhi charged RSS with failing to support the Indian Freedom Struggle for Independence from the British. He asserted that the BJP cannot conceal such facts and charged the RSS with aiding the British.
“In my understanding, RSS was helping the British & Savarakar was getting a stipend from the British. BJP was nowhere to be found in the freedom struggle. BJP can’t hide such facts. Congress & its leaders fought for freedom,” Gandhi said.
He added that thousands of others have joined the yatra because they are sick of inequality, rising prices, and unemployment, and that he is not alone in it.
His third encounter with the media during the march was this one. Today was the 31st day of the yatra, which is currently in the Karnataka leg.
