CUO celebrated Wild Life Week-2018 Awareness Walk and Talk Organized at Koraput

The Central University of Orissa, Koraput celebrated Wild Life Week-2018. On this occasion the Department of Bio-diversity and Conservation of Natural Resources (DBCNR) organised an awareness walk from the Railway Station Junction to Tribal Museum, Koraput. A  special talk on the topic Importance of Wild Life, Their Threats and Conservation: Need of the Hour was also organised at the Tribal Museum, Koraput today.
Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Honble Vice-Chancellor chaired the programme. Mr. M.Motilal, OFS,ACF, Jeypore was present as Chief Speaker, Mr. Prabhakar Adhikary, Secretary, PRAGATI and Prof. P.C Mohapatra, Director, COATS was the Guest of Honour. Prof. S.K.Palita, Dean, SBCNR delivered the keynote address. Dr. Kakoli Banerjee, Asst. Professor, DBCNR proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Debabrata Panda, Asst. Professor coordinated the programme.
Prof. Mohanty in his inaugural address congratulated the Department of Bio-diversity and Conservation of Natural Resources for successfully organising the Awareness walk and awareness meeting. He said to believe in environment is to believe in breathing. Earth is threatened by Ozone and Carbon dioxide (CO2). Because of the invasion of the human being the ecosystem is  endangered. If nature survives then we survive. Hence we have to dedicate ourselves for the service of the earth and the people.  He said we have to respect nature as Gandhiji had respect for nature.
Mr. Motilal in his address advised the students to be a role model for other in conservation of nature. He said we must have to prepare a micro-plan at the rural village for conservation and preservation of nature and have to work with the rural mass for better and effective preservation of nature. Mr. Adhikary talked about the practical aspects of conservation of nature. He said for effective conservation practical approach and involvement of the people is very much important. Prof. Mohapatra talked about the flora and fauna of Koraput present earlier. He said for conservation of nature and its resources we need to work together. Prof. Palita in his keynote address welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted various aspects of Koraput District as an important Bio-Diversity hotspot which requires concerted efforts for conservation.
A pledge taking ceremony was organised at the Landiguda campus of the University where the University community took pledge for creating a clean, green envoirnment and conservation of wildlife. Prof. Bhabani Prasad Rath, OSD and Dr. Asit Kumar Das, Registrar motivated the students by joining the awareness walk.
Dr. Banerjee, Asst. Professor, DBCNR proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Any Latif, Scholar, DBCNR compeered the programme. On this occasion research scholars, students and staffs of the DBCNR were present. PRO Dr. Phagunath Bhoi coordinated Awareness Walk.
