Dubai: Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was named Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Thursday night.
The Juventus player left behind Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Greizmann and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe for the honour, which is described among the top awards after FIFA’s The Best and the Ballon d’Or.
Ronaldo has won the award for the third year in a row. He also scooped up the prize for the best goal of the year.
Ronaldo took to his Instagram handle and wrote: “What better way to start the new year.”
