Puri,Jan.05 : Ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Puri to attend Mission Shakti programme, police on Saturday detained the convener of Jagannath Sena, Priyadarshan Patnaik.
As per sources, Puri police picked up Patnaik in order to apprehend the law and order situation in the town during the CM’s visit.
While the outfit’s convenor is currently detained at the police station, he will be released after the Chief Minister’s departure, sources said.
Notably, CM Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to visit Puri today to address a Mission Shakti Mahila Mahasamavesh and inaugurate implementation of a slew of programmes for Women Self-Help Groups.
Patnaik will also hand over a cheque of Rs 15,000 to each woman SHG, Rs 3000 for a mobile phone to each woman SHGs and Rs 25 lakh support to the women federation at the block level.
Security arrangements have been tightened in view of the CM’s visit.
