Koraput,December 11: Within days of completion of the Maoist ‘PLGA Week’ observation in the district, police today arrested a Red-sympathiser on charges of extorting money from a road construction contractor and funding the rebels.

The accused has been identified as S Murlikrishnan, a resident of Borgi panchayat in Koraput district and a Contractor by profession.

As per the report, the arrest was made by Narayapatna Police on the basis of the complaint lodged by one Manoj Nayak, who is also a road construction contractor by profession. He had lodged the case against Krishnan a few days back accusing the latter of demanding Rs 30 lakh from him. The complainant had also claimed that the accused had threatened with a trial in ‘Praja Court’ run by Maoists in case he fails to give the amount.
