Committee Begins Probe In Bonai Bridge Collapse Incident

Bonai: A probe has begun in the under-construction bridge collapse incident near Kunchapani under K. Balanga police limits in Sundergarh on Sunday.

According to sources, a committee has been formed to investigate the matter.

Bonai sub-collector has informed that only after the submission of a report by the committee further action will be taken.

“A committee has been formed to find out under what circumstances the mishap occurred. The committee consists of RD executive engineer, SDO of R&B PWD, Tehsildar Magistrate and police SDPO. The committee has been asked to submit a detailed report within 24 hours. Further action will be taken based on the report,” Sub-collector of Bonai, Rabindra Sethi, said.

As many as 20 labourers were injured after a portion of an under-construction bridge had collapsed. Nearly 30 labourers were working at the site when the mishap occurred.

While the injured labourers were admitted to Bonai hospital, six critically injured labourers were later shifted to Rourkela Ispat General Hospital (IGH).

Meanwhile, a complaint has been registered against the construction company NBCC India by K Balang police.
