Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in a recent meeting held in New Delhi, called upon senior officers from Odisha working in various Central Government Departments to join hands in building a ‘New Odisha.’ The meeting, held on July 28, was part of the CM’s broader vision for the state’s development, aligning with India’s 100th year of Independence in 2047.

A Visionary Mission for Odisha’s Future

CM Majhi emphasized the state’s ambitious goal to become a developed state by 2047, coinciding with India’s centennial celebrations of independence. He outlined a structured approach to achieve this vision, involving a 100-day action plan, a five-year plan, a 12-year program culminating in 2036, and a long-term vision extending to 2047. This timeline marks Odisha’s 100th year of formation and sets a clear path for sustained growth and development.

Collaboration for Progress

The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Deputy CMs K. V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other senior officials from the Odisha government. CM Majhi stressed the importance of collaboration between the Centre and the State, highlighting the significant role Odisha plays in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Purvodaya’ plan. This initiative aims to accelerate the development of eastern India, offering vast opportunities for Odisha’s growth.

Key Development Areas

During the meeting, CM Majhi sought the support of the Central government in several key areas:

  1. Industrial Development: Establishing industrial corridors and parks to boost economic growth and employment.
  2. Infrastructure Projects: Securing funds and necessary clearances for railway and airport infrastructure projects, crucial for enhancing connectivity and trade.
  3. Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure: Developing infrastructure that can withstand natural calamities, given Odisha’s vulnerability to such events.
  4. Energy and Financial Inclusion: Promoting hydro storage plants for sustainable energy and increasing financial inclusion through more bank branches and ATMs in unbanked areas.

A Call for Unity

In his statement, CM Majhi reiterated the need for unified efforts between the state and central administrations to achieve the vision of a developed Odisha. He underscored that with coordinated efforts and support from senior officers, the proposals discussed at the NITI Aayog governing council meeting on July 27 could be swiftly implemented, ensuring a brighter future for the state.

A Future-Oriented Approach

The Odisha government, under the leadership of CM Majhi and the ruling BJP, is committed to transforming the state into a model of development and prosperity. The CM’s proactive engagement with Central government officers reflects a future-oriented approach, aiming to harness the state’s potential fully and set it on a path of rapid and inclusive growth.

This concerted effort towards building a ‘New Odisha’ not only aligns with the broader national vision but also highlights the BJP government’s dedication to the state’s socio-economic progress, making Odisha a key player in India’s development story.
