CM Announces 7-Day Relief For Flood-Hit Districts Of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a relief of seven days for the flood affected people of Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jajpur districts of Odisha while attending a flood review meeting which was held at the State Secretariat here.

CM took the decision after taking a minute note of the prevailing flood situation in these three district via video conferencing with the Collectors.

As per the decision, adults in the flood hit areas would get relief materials worth Rs 60 per adult per day and Rs 45 per per minor aged below 12 per day. Similarly, the State Government will bear the cost of treatment of livestock along with their vaccinations in the flood affected areas during the period.

CM also directed the Collectors of these three flood affected districts to make an assessment of the loss incurred within a period of seven days to submit a detailed report.

Notably, at least 7.5 lakh people of 17 blocks, 4 ULBs and 903 villages of Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jajpur districts have been hit by the flood this year. At the same time the flood has devastated over 50,000 hectares of cultivated land.

To meet the exigencies, Naveen has earlier ordered the Collectors to ensure safe drinking water to the people living in the flood affected areas. At least 40,000 people have been shifted to safe places and are being provided with cooked food. Similarly, over 90 metric tonne cattle feed has been made available to them.
