New Delhi, november 20: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was on Tuesday attacked by a middle-aged man with chilli powder inside the Delhi Secretariat.
Reportedly, the accused identified as Anil Kumar Sharma has been taken into custody.
Sources said, accused Sharma was waiting outside the Chief Minister’s office and attacked him when Kejriwal stepped out. Kejriwal’s eyes were not affected in the attack as he was wearing spectacles.
However, a scuffle broke out and Kejriwal’s spectacles broke, sources said
A sachet of chilli powder was also found outside Kejriwal’s chamber in the Delhi Secretariat.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) called it a breach of security of the Chief Minister. A person needs to go through a two-level security check to reach the Chief Minister’s office.
In January 2016, a woman threw ink at Kejriwal during a public event that was organised to celebrate the Delhi government’s success with the odd-even vehicle traffic rationing initiative.
Four months later, a man threw a shoe at Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal while he was speaking about the reintroduction of the odd-even scheme in the national capital.
Both attackers were from the Aam Aadmi Sena, an offshoot formed by alleged disgruntled AAP volunteers.
