The arrested have allegedly given a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to help Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL).
The CBI has arrested Charchit Mishra, the younger son of well-known industrialist and CEO of Orissa Stevedores Ltd, Mahimananda Mishra, in connection with allegedly paying a Rs 25 lakh bribe to a Paradip Port Trust official, agency officials said on Saturday the 6th.
The agency also arrested a builder, Sisir Kumar Das, who was given an advance payment for a property purchased by Chief Mechanical Engineer of the port trust, Saroj Kumar Das, the main suspect in the case arrested by the CBI. Saroj Kumar Das is alleged to have demanded Rs 60 lakh as a bribe from Orissa Stevedores Ltd (OSL), one of India’s largest cargo handlers which is also involved in shipping, mining, logistics and exports, to allow it to be without payment at all.h Officials said a port conveyor belt was damaged while unloading goods.
