Bhubaneswar/Aska: State BJP vice president and BJP candidate against the BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik from Hinjili Assembly constituency, Pitambar Acharya seems to have invited trouble just ahead of the 2019 polls. A case has been lodged against Acharya for allegedly misbehaving with an on-duty magistrate and a police official.
As per the complaint lodged by the on-duty magistrate at the Aska Police Station on Saturday, Acharya misbehaved with him and threatened a police official of the poll flying squad after the BJP leader’s vehicle was stopped for frisking while he was on the way to Hinjili for election campaign on March 28.
Based on the complaint of the magistrate, a case has been registered against Acharya under section 353, 394, 186 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Besides, a video showing the BJP Hinjili candidate indulging in an argument with an on-duty officers is viral on social media.
However, Acharya denied the charges brought against him and trained his guns at Naveen Patnaik by stating that the case registered against him is another example of the ‘autocratic rule’ of the BJD chief in Odisha.
He alleged that the atrocity of police officials in Ganjam is not new and as per the direction of VK Pandian (Odisha CM’s private secretary), a false case has been registered against him. “A plan has been made at the third floor of the State Secretariat to prohibit me from entering the Hinjili constituency. The fear of loss has engulfed Naveen so much that I think cases will be lodged against me everyday till the declaration of the poll results,” he said.
