The state cabinet resolved on Monday to implement the redesigned distribution sector scheme (RDSS) for three years, with a project cost of Rs 6,284 crore and a state government contribution of Rs 2,342 crore.

The expenditure consists of Rs. 428 crore for smart metering, Rs. 4,248 crore for infrastructure that is disaster-resistant, and Rs. 1,509 crore for system enhancement. By 2026, the project will be finished. The state sector road development program’s proposal to add six lanes to Cuttack’s 2.1 kilometre ring road from Khannagar to Linkroad at a cost of Rs 121.65 crore received approval from the cabinet as well. The project will be finished in two years.

Moreover, the proposal to prolong the Biju Setu Yojana through 2025–2026 was approved by the cabinet. According to official sources, 866 additional bridges totaling Rs 3,597.22 crore were sanctioned in addition to the existing ones. According to official sources, a proposal to increase the subsidy for the purchase of electric vehicles in accordance with the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy-2021 was also accepted.

The subsidy percentage, though, won’t be announced right once. With a goal of adopting 20% of electric vehicles by 2025, the state government has been implementing the programme starting September 1, 2021. According to sources, this will make the programme more progressive, aid the state in achieving its goal, and encourage people to buy electric cars.

Now, the state government offers a 15% subsidy for the purchase of electric vehicles. The subsidy for two-wheelers is 15% of the purchase price, up to a maximum of Rs 5,000. According to the statement, the maximum for three-wheelers is Rs 10,000 and for four-wheelers, Rs 50,000. The General Provident Fund (Orissa) Rules, 1938 were amended by the government to comply to the General Provident Fund (Central Services) Rules, 1960.
