In the Balasore district of Odisha on Thursday, one guy was detained and had brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore recovered from his hands, according to police.
The culprit, who is from West Bengal, was apprehended by the state police’s Special Task Force after conducting a raid in the Arad Bazar neighbourhood of Balasore town in response to a tip-off, an officer said.
He said that 1.38 kg of brown sugar in total had been taken from his possession.
The officer stated that additional investigation is being conducted to identify other members of the network and that the accused is wanted in three cases involving narcotics smuggling.
