The accused ASI identified as Subhendu Behera had been transferred to Baripada police headquarters earlier after the allegation surfaced against him.
The victim had been to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence on September 16 over the issue and informed him that the accused was trying to implicate her family members in false cases to suppress the matter. She had also lodged a complaint to Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell seeking an intervention.
As per the allegation of the victim, Behera had barged into her house on May 12 around 1.30 am and raped her while she was asleep. Later as she raised an alarm the accused fled from the spot before getting caught by locals.
Meanwhile, Behera has rubbished the allegation made against him.
