Bhubaneswar All Set To Hold ‘Green’ Immersion Ceremony Of Goddess Durga

Bhubaneswar,October 20: With six-day-long Durga Puja celebration came to an end yesterday night with burning of the effigy of demon king at various places in the state capital Bhubaneswar last night, denizens have all set to give ‘Mahishamardini’ bid adieu today.

As per the BMC sources, the ‘immersion ceremony’ which would start in the afternoon will be organised by three puja committees in the city this year. Durga idols from different parts of the city will gather at Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli and Chandrasekharpur puja committee venues march on the immersion procession.

“To prevent water pollution, at least four artificial ponds have been set up for immersion of idols in Bhubaneswar. While two temporary ponds have been dug near Kuakhai river, one each at Daya river and Pandra have been created for the purpose. The cleaning activity of the pond will be undertaken immediately after the completion of the immersion,” said BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.

Yesterday informing on the arrangements made by the Commissionerate Police to conduct the immersion in a peaceful manner Bhubaneswar DCP  Anup Sahoo had three immersion routes have been finalized with adequate deployment of police forces on the front and rear of every procession.

Similalry, fire services personnel will also remain deployed around each temporary ponds during idol immersion, says reports.
