Bhubaneswar,08 Jan.2019: The Odisha government today decided to close down all educational institutions in the State on Tuesday in the wake of nationwide bandh called by the central trade unions against the alleged “anti-worker” government policies.

In view of “Bharat Bandh” call, all educational institutions in the State will remain closed tomorrow (January 08), a statement issued by the State’s Higher Education Department said.

All schools, colleges and universities across the State will remain closed tomorrow to ensure the safety of students, an official said.

A two-day strike on January 8 and 9 has been called by the central trade unions against the alleged repressive policies for workers adopted by the government.

Around 20 crore workers of the Central Trade Unions will from Tuesday begin a 48-hour nationwide strike to protest against the government’s alleged anti-worker policies.

Meanwhile, Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has extended its support to the proposed strike.
