On Sunday, unrest broke out in the capital of Odisha after a series of accidents caused by a speeding car near Rajmahal Square resulted in the deaths of a banana vendor and two other people who were badly injured.
Bhajaman Rout, who passed away, and Kulamani Rout, who was injured, were both from the Kendrapada district.
Sources claim that this morning, while the car was making its way from Rajmahal Square to Kalpana Square, it struck an electric post before slamming into the trolley of a man selling bananas. The man was flung ten feet into the air and died while heavily bleeding.
The car also struck a motorcycle and a pedestrian, gravely injuring two guys. They are receiving treatment at the Capital Hospital in this location.
Locals claimed that the accidents were caused by the driver, who has been identified as Saswat Mahapatra resident of Saheed Nagar, being extremely intoxicated. As per sources Saswat is presently working in a software company ‘Phenom’, and has studied from IIIT Bhubaneswar.
A cousin of the dead remarked that the government or the accused should give money to his family even if police have opened an investigation into the incident. The mother of Bhajaman suffers from paralysis, and his two kids are 1 1/2 and 5 years old.
