Kendrapara, 25, Jan. 2019: An Anganwadi worker in Dahanigiri under Rajkanika of Kendrapara district was allegedly stripped naked and brutally thrashed by a group of women in full public view on Thursday.
The matter came to light after the video clip of the assault of the Anganwadi worker, identified as Baisakhi Behera, went viral on social media. The victim’s husband lodged a complaint in this regard.
According to the complaint lodged at Rajkanika police station, children of the village are not going to the Anganwadi centre to have cooked food, eggs and chatua for the last two years due to dispute among villagers.
Today, Baisakhi was going to the centre when a group of 15 to 20 women waylaid her and started thrashing her seeking explanation on the funds being allocated to the centre for children.
Based on the complaint of the victim’s husband, the police launched a probe into the matter.
