A conman from Odisha is accused of defrauding more than 20 businesses throughout India out of Rs 200 crore by promising them franchises for electric vehicle shops.

According to reports, a fraudster posing as an official of various electric vehicle firms persuaded various businesspeople from Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh to give them with franchises to sell the products. Prabhat then instructed them to make a deposit into an account for dealer registration fees.
On Tuesday, the helpless merchants filed a complaint with the Bhubaneswar Economic Offence Wing.
“A conman from Odisha defrauded me to the tune of Rs 30 lakh.” In September 2021, I transferred the payment to him. “However, I have not yet received the electric vehicles,” Lokesh Bhandari, an entrepreneur from Uttar Pradesh, said.
“We filed a complaint with the Economic Offence Wing in Bhubaneswar, and we’re hoping the fraudster will be apprehended and we’ll get our money back,” he said.
