Bhadrak,Jan.04 : Two persons were killed and another two were injured after a 108 ambulance carrying a patient hit a roadside tree in Chandbali area late on Thursday night here in the district.
The deceased persons were identified as Upendra Sahoo (70), the patient and Pramod Parida (30), the helper of the ambulance.
According to reports, Upendra Sahoo, a resident of Kandagaradi village under Chandbali police limits was brought to the Chandbali CHC at around 1.00 am after he complained of chest pain. Later, he was referred to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place near an ashram at Ugratara while the patient was being rushed to the hospital in the 108 ambulance. The ambulance hit a tree after losing its control when a cow suddenly came on the road. While Sahoo and helper of the ambulance died on the spot, the patient’s son and pharmacist were grievously injured.
After receiving the information, the police along with fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons trapped in the vehicle. The patient’s son has been referred to the SCB Medical College & Hospital for treatment.
