Buoyed by the opposition parties’ Kairana and Noorpur by-poll victories, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said now it was time to prepare for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls which will decide the fate of the country.
Akhilesh was speaking to several party workers, leaders, MLAs and supporters, who came to congratulate him for the bypoll victories.
Akhilesh said the SP did politics of principles while the BJP relied on caste and religion politics. “People should now be ready to struggle to save democracy as the BJP was engaged in dividing the society by spreading hatred”.
Akhilesh meanwhile went to Gomti Riverfront where he cycled and played cricket on Monday too. Ever since Akhilesh vacated the government bungalow and shifted to the VVIP guest house, he has started going out on morning exercises to one of the parks that were built by the Samajwadi Party governments. On Saturday, he had said now that he had no place to do his workout in the morning, the will visit the parks that will also give him opportunity to interact with people.
