Bhubaneswar,12,Jan. 2019: Intensifying the probe into actress Nikita’s death, Chauliaganj Police today put up a ‘latka’ notice at her in-laws’ house after they failed to appear despite being summoned several times.
According to the sources, the police have again summoned the absconding in-laws of Nikita to appear before it on or before 11 am on January 19.
Though Nikita’s in-laws are yet to depose before the police for interrogation, they have moved the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
Earlier, a notice was sent to Nikita’s in-laws for appearance but they did not appear. A police team had also visited their house but the house was locked.
On the other hand, Nikita’s husband Lipan, accused of her murder, has been sent to the Choudwar Central jail after the Court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) in Cuttack turned down his bail plea on January 8.
Chauliganj police have registered a case under Sections 302, 498 (A), 306 and 34 of the IPC, following a complaint lodged by Nikita’s father Sanatan Behera.
Notably, Odia TV actress Lakshmipriya Behera aka Nikita died at Aswini hospital on Jan 5 while undergoing treatment for head injury. While her husband claimed that she fell off the roof, Nikita’s father has alleged that Lipan pushed her daughter to death.
