The landscape of sustainable energy is set to expand as ACME Group embarks on a groundbreaking initiative in partnership with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. (TSSEZL). This collaboration aims to establish a monumental green hydrogen and green ammonia project within the Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP) in Odisha, marking a significant stride towards a greener future for the state.
In a resounding testament to Odisha’s commitment to sustainable development, ACME Group is poised to acquire 343 acres of land within TSSEZL’s Gopalpur Industrial Park, strategically located in Ganjam district. The envisioned green hydrogen and derivatives unit is destined to be the largest single-location manufacturing facility of its kind in India, with an estimated investment of ₹27,000 crore, to be injected in a phased approach.
A pivotal aspect of this visionary project is the establishment of a nearly 1.3 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) green ammonia production facility at GIP. This innovative endeavor will harness the power of green hydrogen, with the production facilities being powered by renewable energy sources. The ambitious scope of this endeavor solidifies its potential to revolutionize energy production and contribute to a more sustainable industrial landscape.
Notably, the green ammonia generated by this facility will be exported to both western and eastern markets through the existing Gopalpur Port, conveniently located nearby. This integration streamlines logistics and pipeline connectivity, bolstering efficiency and accessibility.
Manoj K. Upadhyay, the Founder and Chairman of ACME Group, underscores the broader significance of this endeavor. He remarks, “This project will enable us to offer Make In India green hydrogen and green ammonia to domestic and international markets at a competitive price.” This sentiment captures the essence of Odisha’s proactive role in promoting environmentally responsible industrial growth.
Manikanta Naik, the Managing Director of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd., extols the remarkable attributes of Gopalpur Industrial Park. With its plug-and-play infrastructure, multi-modal logistics connectivity, and environmental clearances, the park is swiftly emerging as a beacon for strategic investments. Naik’s outlook echoes the sentiment that this project stands as a testament to Odisha’s commitment to sustainable growth and regional prosperity.
The robust industrial ecosystem fostered by Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Steel, underscores the state’s determination to nurture both domestic and export-oriented industries. Gopalpur Industrial Park’s evolution into a dynamic manufacturing hub is a promising sign of the region’s burgeoning industrial prowess.
As the ACME Group’s green-hydrogen initiative gathers momentum, it reflects not only the remarkable potential of renewable energy but also Odisha’s role as a trailblazer in sustainable progress. This ambitious project serves as a testament to the state’s enduring commitment to fostering innovation and embracing a greener, brighter future.
