Amar Satpathy, a lawmaker for the Biju Janata Dal, expressed worry over the favouritism displayed by concerned officials when hiring locals in nearby enterprises.

In the past two years, the state government has granted approval to 186 enterprises through the single window clearance committee.

Since June 2020, 11 significant projects have been operationalized. Additionally, at that time the state invested Rs 4,606 crore to generate 6, 557 job opportunities. In addition, the government wants to employ 1.46 lakh people in various industries.

In a Friday question-and-answer session of the State Assembly, Minister of Industries, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Pratap Keshari Deb made this revelation.

Deb’s response came when Prafulla Samal, a lawmaker for the ruling party, questioned the minister in question about the number of industries that have been operationalized by single window clearance committees.

Samal also questioned the minister on the distinction between high-level clearance authority and single window clearance authority.

Amar Satpathy, a lawmaker for the Biju Janata Dal, on the other hand, raised worry over the favouritism displayed by responsible officials when hiring locals in nearby enterprises.

Deb responded to Satpathy’s concern by stating, “The state government signs the memorandum of understanding (MoU) after the industries have received SLCU approval. The government, however, places a lot more emphasis on local youth recruiting.

The minister also stated categorically that the state administration will respond to any allegations of favouritism if the federal government receives them.
